Pageant Positivity: The Sisterhood of Pageantry

Friendship through Pageantry- 8 Wiltshire queens to soon be 9!

There was a comment made to a pageant girl to watch her back because pageant friends are not your friends at all. In life we have friends in all different circles of life, from old school friends, work colleagues, family friends and of course any hobbies you do. Over time you may get closer to these friends or drift apart, the amazing thing about social media is you can now connect with people from all over the world and keep in touch with people who years ago it would take a monthly letter across the pond to keep in contact. But to me pageant friends are not just girls you compete with, put on a crown and smile then never speak to again, or friends you pretend to like. Pageant girls are one of the most supportive, honest and best friends you could ever have in your life!!

(Real queens build each other up, not tear each other down)

We support each other whether we are competing in a different pageant or even direct competition with each other. It's not just the photo you see, but what comes behind it. When we have our down days and need someone to talk to, there is always a queen on the other side of the phone, whether it's someone to vent to, laugh with or send funny snapchats to! When someone attacks our pageant community, we all band together and stick up for the sisterhood, rendering Internet trolls and bullies useless against the warming friendship of the sparkling pageantry sisterhood!

(The first WBQ Wedding! The second was Georgia who I was MOH for!)

It's not just pageants that we see each other, although most of the time we see each other is through appearances as it's great to combine our love of pageantry with friendship plus if we live far from each other, it's the perfect excuse to meet up! I love going to events in Wales as I get to catch up with all my welsh beauty queens! I've been on holiday with my pageant queens, Ive attended weddings, birthdays and even was honoured to be Georgia's Maid of Honour when she got married, as well as celebrate Ruth's wedding (still think I have those flip flops somewhere!). I am a part of so many group chats, from the Wiltshire Beauty Queens, my YEMI sisters and the Queen Admins which have some fierce queens in!

(Watching the MUGB finals with the girls!)

What friends would travel miles and miles to watch you compete? And if they can't travel up, will be stalking live feeds and hyping you up in the comment sections? Who else will cry with you, laugh with you, feel every emotion that a pageant girl does?! The fact that some girls will travel distances just to support every pageant girl, without even knowing who is competing!! We make it a Wiltshire trip every year to Newport to watch the MUGB finals, last year we then watched the live stream of the Galaxy Internationals!

(Class of 2014 FOTG Internationals)

At pageant finals you are always creating new bonds, from the build up before the finals to rehearals and all sorts of fun, If you are lucky to reach internationals you will bond with your roomie and find the best queen sisters. Even now, we will always talk about the times we had in Paris (not forgetting you Celene and Bianca!), creating memroies that will last a lifetime! When you finally win that national crown, you create a bond with the sisters you win with, This year's YEMI queens are the best sisters I could of been given! We all look out for each other, have a laugh and make sure that we are all happy and loving life! The same goes for directors, you become a family!
(With my future international queens!)

This brings me full circle to my baby shower last weekend, the fact that I had so many pageant queens come to such a personal event meant the world to me. One of my PT clients (I have the best clients who have become firm friends!) said to me the other day in our training session that I had brought all these girls together, she told me how one girl said she learnt everything she knew from me, and how she was talking to another about how I helped her in a family tradegy. To me these are just normal everyday things, but from the outside looking in you can see how much the pageantry community care for each other! I am blessed with this girls in my life, and I can't wait to continue this journey with them, and when Baby Penelope comes, she is going to have the most aunties a girl could ever have!!

(My best friends <3 )

So to those who say pageantry is fake, the back stabbing, that we are not "real" friends. Let me tell you, a pageant girl is the best friend you could ever have. I wouldn't be on this planet today if it wasn't for the strength and friendship I have from these girls. I love you all!!

Lots of love

Hannah
